Liquid Courage
Liquid Courage
Our eyes are locked
and I've lost the combination
and when you bit that lip
I was aching in anticipation
Finishing a drink,
I swear it had courage at the bottom
Because I made my way to you
and the words I had planned out
Well... you could say I forgot 'em.
"Get"
Now here is where my brain started running
I was looking for the words
but nothing intelligent was coming
So I went with instinct,
because I was primal
"Up"
and it was final,
You rose from your seat
and started to move our feet
to the dance floor
You held me like missed me
Yet this was the first time we met.
Our bodies were now like our eyes,
Locked
and the way you let your hips
Rock
I swear my drink had courage at the bottom
But it didn't help me remember your 9 digits
I forgot 'em

30 Days
30 Days
My apartment is your crime scene
there is no need to dust for prints because you're all over it
from the jar of nutella left uneaten
to the scent of the pillow you laid on last weekend
The pink mug with our initials on the bottom
the dead flowers on my coffee table
you must have forgot 'em
What will happen to the list we made?
how will I ever look at the bed the same?
I remember we struggled to keep our eyes open
as we talked into the twilight
and you took my heart that night
which makes sense
the perfect time for a break in...
So as I tear down the tape, again
redo the locks
get new keys and then..
clean up the mess you've made alone
because I can't wait for this place to feel more like home
one that I can share with someone who
well
isn't you.

The First Lesson
I guess somewhere between I and Miss
before forever was invited
there was some imbalance
like chemistry
we were missing that positive charge
You had me wrapped up in your science
and through compliance I was hoping to share more then
the atomic number of 8
that we'd be able to mediate
maybe meet in the middle and share some ionic bonds
But it seems like we weren't covalent
because what was taken from you and I
well, that would lead us to history
and to understand the present we'd have to study the past
and while you want to stay lost in pages
I'm more focused on writing them
